This week's song is Компьютер by Группа Телескоп! I don't have much information on this band, but apparently they're somehow related to ВИА Калинка. I ended up running into a VK fanpage and I'll add it here if I run into it again.
This group is not available on Discogs, but you can find a handful of their albums on Musify.
The Ledi-Disko album has been re-ripped and download links on the original post have been updated accordingly. I'm happy to say that the quality of the rip has been bumped up to B+, an entire letter past its original grade!
I don't really want to shill for any company or anything, but if you're curious about what I'm using now, I use the ION Boombox Deluxe. It has mixed reviews and probably isn't the best one out there, but it gives listenable quality and all my complaints with it are very easily fixable (such as the small amount of white noise being easy to remove). However, if you're looking for something with Dolby noise reduction, you might want to look elsewhere...
If you want to know what to avoid, I was using a MYPIN cassette to mp3 recorder initially, and that gave me very bad quality. If you're looking for something to listen to stuff with, it's not the worst thing, but the hissing noise is almost impossible to cancel out and it was actually the reason I looked into getting the boombox.
Hope your day is well, and I hope the updated Ledi-Disko rip is more pleasant to listen to!
Hey! Just a brief update.
I got a boombox recently, and its rip quality is so much better than my other cassette player. So sometime tomorrow (or maybe within the weekend?) I'll be updating the download links and re-grading it based off of the new rip. I won't be making a new post for the whole album, but I'll let you guys know when I finally switch up the links.
Hope you're having a good day or night!
Okay so a couple of weeks ago I bought a handful of cassettes (and also a record) and so I've been waiting for a little bit for them to get to my house and the tracking information says they're here/will be here soon! I have to wait a little bit to see them since I'm under the age of 18 and still go back and forth between houses (that should be changing later this year, but I don't know for certain), but I'm still super excited to get there!
When I can, I'll do what I can to rip the tapes and everything like I've done for Ledi-Disko. Here's what I got, though:
I also got Ledi-Disko's Supermergaitė album, but the tracking number doesn't work so I'm just gonna have to wait the old fashioned way for it to show up (not that I have much faith). And if you're curious about the record, it's Төлеген Мұхамеджанов - Ақ Желкен! A Kazakh compilation album, featuring my favourite Дос-Мукасан song.
It should be noted that, aside my already existing struggle to rip tapes well, the Ekstazė album was not given the best quality rating when I got it (as in, it's been used quite a lot). I'll still do my best with the tools I have, though - and I feel like this is obvious, but once I get better tools I'm absolutely going at this again with all of the tapes I own!
Ripping actual records might take a lot more work (I have only two of five I want to rip, but still) and I don't have the proper equipment for that yet, but rest assured I'll get to that eventually.
I also want to mention that I think I'm open to suggestions on what to rip? If you have an album you like you're free to send me a message somewhere and I'll see what I can do (though if I don't like the album/can't find a place to get it, then I probably won't do it). First I'll search online to see if it's been uploaded, but otherwise I'll just rip it myself.
This week's song I know for sure is a cover!
According to my files, this song is called Любовь и космос, but I've also heard it called something like Далёкий Космос (I apologize for my spelling if it's wrong, I'm kind of just going by ear). It's a cover of The Flirts' "Helpless" and frankly I like the instrumental a little better than the original, but both are very good. There is a much better version available on Musify, which includes the entire album this is from.
Натали is actually a fairly well-established artist, having worked with group Поп-Галактика for this album (Звёздный Дождь) and another one called Супербой. and then at some point going on her own. I don't know any of her music outside of the reel albums from the early 90's, but you can find information on her on Discogs.
This week's song is Звёздочка by Фиакр.
Фиакр is actually a really special band to me, as they were my first attempt in finding music that was largely unavailable on YouTube. Over the span of about a month, I managed to find the entire discography of the band, and a decent amount of information on them, too! I've been considering setting up a YouTube channel to post the music I've found (like this), but I have yet to do so. If you're interested in the discography of this band, please message me - I'll help you find what I did.
Звёздочка is the third track on their first album (simply titled Первый альбом, iirc). It's far from my favourite track by the band, but it's a good one nonetheless. Unfortunately, no information is available on Discogs, and I can't add it myself as I don't have the actual reel for any of their work. I really do hope that in the future I'm somehow able to talk to someone from this band, as if it weren't for them, I would never really be interested in all this music sleuthing, anyway.
Фиакр has eight albums, with only two of them having proper titles as far as I know.

Well... song of the whenever I feel like it, really. Not that it matters!
Today's song is Paskutinį kartą by Blondinė! This artist appears to have only had one album released, but also appeared on two compilation albums (2'as Bumas and Megafonas 2). Personally I do really like her voice, but after taking a listen to this album, there isn't really another song like this. As far as I can tell, the girl singer's name is Inga Mišeikienė. I don't know if she's the one on the cover, though.
Four other songs from this album are on YouTube, and you can find them on the Discogs release page. You can find the full album up for download on Shanson-e, also, but please note that you'll need an account to view the download link in the first place.
I've spent about five or six months (as of now) searching for a lot of forgotten music. I was able to streamline the process within the first month, and have been working on perfecting it ever since. So I figure having a bunch of places put together at the same time would help. If you have any questions, comments, etc, please don't hesitate to contact me!
Finally, after trying to deal with the hell that is the old theme's coding, I can make a post!
I don't really know what to say here, though. A quick nerdy and cringy "hello", since I'm not actually going to be posting for a hot minute after this. I still have to fix some of the code and all that but it's whatever.
My name is Nikita, and I'm probably going to be posting whatever I want, but I did make this for the sake of sharing music. You're more likely to see forgotten music and stuff on here, but I got a lot of stuff I want to share in general! I get scared of music forums, so I figure a blog is the best place for me to post stuff. I do have a group on Quotev for this sort of stuff, too, but those are harder to keep active and I don't use it enough anyway.
I figure most people who find this website will find it by searching for forgotten artists and stuff, the same way that I find forums and blogs and other websites. If you're one of those people, I'll make a post on how I streamlined the music searching process at some point, and link all my sources. And also some translation/safety tips, etc.
I'll also be posting rips of albums I physically own! At the moment, I only have two tapes ripped, but I'm getting more in the mail soon and at some point will take a crack at ripping the records I own, too. (However... most of that is online already, or I'll get killed by copyright faster than you can say YouTube AdSense)
If you need to contact me, the easiest way for me to notice is probably Discogs. I think generally I would prefer on here if you can, but I am pretty new to Blogger so I have no idea if you can even do that. Commenting on these posts is okay, too! I speak English, French, and am studying Russian, so those are the three languages you can talk to me in. I will be posting primarily in English, but my posts on rips will be trilingual for the sake of accessibility to people who may be looking for them.
See you when I finally decide to post something normal!
