Song of the Week

This week's song is Пи-па by Президент и Амазинка! I don't really have much to say this time around.

Song of the Week

This week's song is Любит - не любит by Заплатки! My friend introduced me to this album a while back and I've finally gotten to listening to it. I like it a lot, I hope you enjoy it too!

Things in life have been getting better. The real life happenings from a few weeks ago aren't as glaring and most of what's needed to be done is done. I'll try to do these posts as often as I used to, now.

Song of the Week

This week's song is Танцевать с тобой by the group Атлантис! I don't have much to say as it's been a long day, but I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do :)

Song of the Week

This week's song is Гороскоп by Пламя! Despite the name literally being "Horoscope", I managed to be completely blindsided by this song being about astrology. Nonetheless, it's very cute :)

Song of the Week

So, I may be just a bit late.

This week's song is Яблоки на снегу, sung by Михаил Муромов! I won't get into detail, but this song was a huge deal for me when I was in sophomore year, which was only really a couple of years ago. Listening to it still kind of reminds me of that whole period, which I'm still trying to decide on if that's a good or bad thing...

You can find an English translation of the lyrics here.

Song of the Week

This week's song is Остров невезения from the movie Бриллиантовая рука (The Diamond Arm, in English)! The song is sung by actor and singer Андрей Миронов (Andrei Mironov), and from what I can gather, this appears to be one of his more well-known movie appearances. I watched this movie yesterday (and once more this morning with a friend), and it's definitely very entertaining! Though, if you're not a fan of secondhand embarrassment, you might not enjoy some scenes as much.

Regarding movies and Mironov, I've been looking for an English-subtitled version of the 1976 (Марк Захаров) version of 12 стульев, but to no avail. I don't really know if anyone actually reads the stuff on the blog (in a way, I am thankful if you do), but if anyone reading this knows where I can find it, that'd be wonderful! I'd just watch it in straight Russian with no subtitles, but I'm not quite the good at processing speech yet, let alone having such a small vocabulary...

Song of the Week

I know, I know, another Мираж song. This time it's Звезды нас ждут.

Song of the Week

This week's song is Музыка нас связала by Мираж! When scheduling a Ledi-Disko post, YouTube caught that the melody of this song was used. I don't usually like YouTube's copyright system, but I thought this was interesting...

Song of the Week

Today's song is Шутовское королевство by Весёлые ребята! It's probably my favourite song in this album.

(If this isn't available in your country I'm sorry)

Song of the Week

This week's song is А там, впереди, все дорога sung by Владимир Трошин! I don't really know much about this song (I have a cover of it somewhere on my computer with a couple kind of communist songs so I just kind of assume it's the same deal). I do think his voice is very nice to listen to, though.

Song of the Week

I forgot to post anyway here's Ты by Павел Гладунов

Update 22/02/2021: Today (February 22) marks the third anniversary of Pavel Gladunov's death. While I may not be the most heartbroken over this, I still think remembering him and his music is important.

Song of the Week

This week's song is Компьютер by Группа Телескоп! I don't have much information on this band, but apparently they're somehow related to ВИА Калинка. I ended up running into a VK fanpage and I'll add it here if I run into it again.

This group is not available on Discogs, but you can find a handful of their albums on Musify.

Song of the Week

This week's song I know for sure is a cover!

According to my files, this song is called Любовь и космос, but I've also heard it called something like Далёкий Космос (I apologize for my spelling if it's wrong, I'm kind of just going by ear). It's a cover of The Flirts' "Helpless" and frankly I like the instrumental a little better than the original, but both are very good. There is a much better version available on Musify, which includes the entire album this is from.

Натали is actually a fairly well-established artist, having worked with group Поп-Галактика for this album (Звёздный Дождь) and another one called Супербой. and then at some point going on her own. I don't know any of her music outside of the reel albums from the early 90's, but you can find information on her on Discogs.

Song of the Week

This week's song is Звёздочка by Фиакр.

Фиакр is actually a really special band to me, as they were my first attempt in finding music that was largely unavailable on YouTube. Over the span of about a month, I managed to find the entire discography of the band, and a decent amount of information on them, too! I've been considering setting up a YouTube channel to post the music I've found (like this), but I have yet to do so. If you're interested in the discography of this band, please message me - I'll help you find what I did.

Звёздочка is the third track on their first album (simply titled Первый альбом, iirc). It's far from my favourite track by the band, but it's a good one nonetheless. Unfortunately, no information is available on Discogs, and I can't add it myself as I don't have the actual reel for any of their work. I really do hope that in the future I'm somehow able to talk to someone from this band, as if it weren't for them, I would never really be interested in all this music sleuthing, anyway.

Фиакр has eight albums, with only two of them having proper titles as far as I know.
