If there's a conventional way to grade recovery, I'm not sure of it. I've made my own system to keep things roughly consistent but lowball as much as possible, because I want to be as perfect as possible and not have people expect more than there is.
A - Ideal quality. With my current tools, things can't be perfect, so essentially 'this is as good as it will ever get', for now. A perfect A grade is very sparingly used; you'll usually see A- at best.
B - Less than ideal, but listenable. Sometimes it sounds a little weird (maybe flip-flops between left and right when it shouldn't) but otherwise it's alright.
C - If this is used as an overall grade, it means that it's mixed quality; there are enough bad songs to drag the grade down, but enough good ones to keep it passable. Otherwise, problems that would've given the song a B grade are more noticeable.
D - Audio is just not up to par OR song skips annoyingly or just goes silent.
F - Not necessarily unlistenable if you grit your teeth. Very sparingly used.
Grades are split into Overall Grades and Individual Grades. Overall grades are ones written next to the link to this guide. Individual grades are saved for when a specific song may sound better or worse than that specific grade. Generally, if the difference is small (the tape is graded a B+ but track A5 is a B-), it will not be noted.
